Authority of the Acharya

Srila Prabhupada presented the transcendental knowledge of the parampara or preceptorial disciplic succession in his books. The proponents of on-going changes after the departure of the acharya (the vikara-vadis) have yet to present verifiable evidence from His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada himself where he specifically and directly authorized these post departure changes.

All bona fide Vedic debates and disputations are based on Sastra and the authorized commentaries of the previous acaryas. In our particular case, the importance and position of Srila Prabhupada’s original unrevised books and commentaries is supreme. Srila Prabhupada often stated that “Books [His books] are the basis.” His original books are solidly based on the foundation of the authentic Vedic shastras and the Puranas and the commentaries of the previous acharyas.

The tradition of disputation or debate is a well established practice to firmly ascertain the veracity of one’s contentions and points. Such debates were very common in the past to settle controversial and philosophical issues.
